Panama Overview
Panama, officially known as the Republic of Panama, is a country of 4 million inhabitants in Central America, bordering the Caribbean Sea from the north and the Great Ocean from the south. Panama City is the capital of Panama, with Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the southeast, and almost half of the country's population lives here. The Panama Canal, the country's largest geographical and economic gain, divides the country into two and connects the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean.
A Brief History of Panama
Panama's earliest known inhabitants were indigenous tribes named Cuevas and Coclé. With the arrival of the Spaniards in 1501, the region, which became a colony of the Spaniards, completely disappeared due to the diseases brought by the Europeans. Panama remained a Spanish colony until 1821, when it was united with Colombia. He left Colombia in 1903 and declared his independence. After receiving great support from the USA in gaining its independence, it left the control of the Panama Canal to the USA.
Geography in Panama
Panama's length is roughly 670 kilometers, with an area of about 77 thousand square kilometers. The northern coasts of the country are called the Atlantic Coasts and the southern coasts are called the Pacific Coasts. The most important feature of Panama's geography is the division of North America and South America continents.
Climate in Panama
Panama has a warm climate and has two seasons: a land from January to April, a warm tropical climate, and a rainy period between May and December. The average temperature is 27 degrees and the air is quite humid. The average annual precipitation is in the range of 2500-3000 mm on the Atlantic coast, which receives 10 months of rainfall. The Pacific coasts are rainy for 8 months and the average rainfall varies between 1700 and 2100 mm.
Coffee Production in Panama
The coffees grown in the Boquete region at an average altitude of 1000-1500 meters have a very bright appearance. Geisha coffee, one of the most famous coffees, has been awarded many awards. More than 80% of the coffees produced are arabica, while the remaining approximately 15% is Robusta. Its annual production is 150,000 bags.
